Dear Wushu friends,
On behalf of the Olympic Movement, I convey my greetings and best wishes to the
International Wushu Federation (IWUF) on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. Wushu
is a traditional martial arts, and we know that martial arts, like all sports, play an
important role in today’s society. Wushu has aways played a very positive role, not
only in competitive sport but also in sport for all. (cont..)
As an IOC-Recognised Federation, the IWUF has always supported the dissemination
of the values and ideas of Olympism, of which mutual understanding, friendship,
solidarity, and fair play are the cornerstones. And I am sure that this will continue for
many years to come.
I would like here to thank the IWUF President, my colleague Yu Zaiqing, his team as
well as the national federation and the thousands of volunteers who give their time
and energy to promoting this sport and its values among the youth of the world.
I therefore support and encourage the International Wushu Federation in its
continuing endeavours and wish you all an enjoyable 20th anniversary!
